The CEO’s little ones

Chapter 45

Chapter 45:.

“Stella.” Hayden’s voice deepened and he looked at the unmoving girl, “Do you think it’s appropriate to do so?”

Stella pursed her lips, feeling guilty. Normally, if her mother spoke to her like that, it meant she was really angry.

“Mom.” Stella tugged at her sleeve, “I just want to play with Noah for a little while longer.”

Hayden was still looking at her solemnly. “I know, but what time is it already, didn’t I tell you to mind your manners before you came here? You can play with Noah, but you can’t dawdle or refuse to go home. It’s rude.”

As she was scolding Stella, Noah suddenly crawled over to her and grabbed one of her legs, holding the drawing board with his other hand.

Hayden felt his left leg being gripped tightly. Looking down, she saw the words written on the drawing board raised high in Noah’s hand, “[I want Stella to stay].”

“Noah.” Hayden frowned and didn’t know what to say at that moment. It seemed he could never say no to Noah’s requests.

“Noah, I have to go now, it’s too late. I’ll bring Stella back another time and I’ll come back and play with you when I have time, okay?”

Seeing that Hayden was still insisting, Noah became anxious. He hurriedly wrote another line on the drawing board, then tugged at Joseph’s pants, asking his father to read his words.

“[If you don’t make Stella and Hayden stay, I won’t eat tomorrow].”

Joseph was puzzled, feeling a sudden doubt in his heart. He looked at Hayden and said, “How about you stay here tonight? We have a room for you and Stella.”

Hayden was startled. “Well, I don’t think that’s appropriate.”

“Please don’t misunderstand me.” Joseph looked at her and unhurriedly explained, “If you leave, Noah wouldn’t come back to eat tomorrow. He still has an injury, so he can only stay at home instead of going out, he can hardly meet with his friends today.”noveldrama

Hearing this, Hayden could do nothing to refuse.

Stella was also striking the iron while it was hot. “Mommy, tomorrow is Sunday, I don’t have to go to school and you don’t have to work either. Mommy, I promise, I’ll come home tomorrow. I just want to spend more time with Noah.” Now Hayden had to reluctantly agree with her.

He touched Stella’s forehead and said meaningfully, “You’re so young and you already want to chaperone a boy. Unfortunately, you’re older now and I can’t keep you at home any longer.”

As they had agreed to spend the night, a servant prepared a guest room for them and Hayden went to bathe Stella. The little girl acted like she was crazy: she kept screaming, jumping and running around the bathroom. All the towels were soaked with water.

“That’s it, you’re done already, why are you so rowdy?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” Stella looked at Hayden with a smile. “Mommy, I’ve always wished I had a big brother.”

Hearing her mention that, Hayden couldn’t help but frown and say in a very low voice, “You have one.”

Stella realized she had brought up her mother’s sadness, so she immediately regretted it. “Mommy, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Hayden rubbed his head helplessly, “Stop playing, stay in the tub to keep warm. I’ll go out and get you a new towel.”

“Okay.”

His son who was taken from him in the past was always the knot in Hayden’s heart. Although he knew it would not be possible for him to bring him back if he could find him, he always hoped that he would be able to meet him someday. As long as she could catch a glimpse of him from afar and see if he led a happy life, she didn’t need to bother him.

As she left the guest room, Hayden slowly exhaled a stifled sigh, feeling a little nervous.

Joseph was drinking water in the living room. Hearing footsteps coming down the stairs, she turned around, only to discover Hayden coming down the stairs. Her light blue dress was soaked from the chest, faintly revealing the outline of her bra.

At the glimpse of him, she felt her lower abdomen tighten and her mouth go dry.

“Excuse me, where’s the servant?” Hayden asked hesitantly under her unmoving gaze.

Joseph came to, looking away. “He just went out to take out the garbage, I guess. Looking for anything?”

“Towels.” Hayden tugged at the collar of her dress, smiling helplessly, “Stella was very fidgety when she was bathing and I get water all over me. All the towels in the bathroom are wet, I want to ask the servant if there are any more dry towels.”

Joseph glanced at the door: the wastebasket was quite far from here and the maid on duty tonight had just left, so he didn’t think she would be back any time soon.

“I have some in my room. Come and get them.” As he spoke, he set the glass of water down on the table, to walk towards the stairs.

Hayden followed, feeling inexplicably a little nervous as she entered the main room on the second floor. Clenching her fingers, she glanced at Joseph’s back and shook off the distracting thoughts in her brain.

What are you thinking, she admonished herself.

“Do you want a body towel or a face towel? Come take a look.” Joseph said.

He was at the bathroom door and she hurried over to him. “Both, please.”

In the cabinet next to the bathroom were many neatly folded towels. Hayden took two bath towels and reached for the face towels. They seemed to be placed at the top of the cabinet. Therefore, she tiptoed over.

Unfortunately, she was too short to take one.

A hand crossed over her head, and a deep voice sounded from the shadows. “Two of them, right?”.

She was stunned, nodding uneasily. She wondered if he had seen her nod, only feeling his shadow over her a little deeper.

Joseph grabbed the towels and looked down, meeting Hayden’s dumbfounded gaze. His eyes seemed extremely bright despite being in the gloom, his heart skipped a beat and he stopped his movements.

In the dim yellowish light of the bathroom, the way Joseph reached for things from behind Hayden looked as if he was embracing her from behind, a rather intimate position. Suddenly, the mood became ambiguous, as if the temperature in the bathroom had risen a little.

Hayden’s breathing became heavier. Sniffing the faint scent of cologne on her body, he couldn’t help but inhale slightly. It smelled good.

“Excuse me, young master…”.

Suddenly, they heard the servant knocking on the door, which instantly broke the atmosphere.

Hayden suddenly sobered at the sound of the knock. Lowering her head, she dodged his direct gaze and stepped back, distancing herself from him confidently.

Joseph also came to himself. When he looked toward the door, his eyes were full of unhappiness. “What’s wrong?”

One of his hands passed the facial towels to Hayden.

Biting his tongue, Hayden took it feeling his heart hammering in his chest as if it would jump. It was such a strange feeling.

“I just went to the guest room and found Miss Downey’s daughter alone in the bathroom. She asked me where her mother was, I looked all over the villa for Miss Downey, but I couldn’t find her.”

Hearing that, Hayden hurried to look at Joseph. Before he could stop him, he had already emerged from the bathroom and calmly replied, “She’s here with me.”

There was a moment of silence on the other side of the door.
