The Cherished Wife



Jordan was only back now because the matriarch of the Langford family had threatened him with death and because he wanted to visit Nancy, who had fallen ill. After all, Nancy was Tania's biological mother, and even though he and Tania had not made it to the end, Jordan still held immense respect for both Henry and Nancy.

The Langford family was finally taking notice of the fact that Layla was missing, and they requested Jordan to locate her as quickly as possible.

Jordan initially thought Layla was just throwing a temper tantrum and that she would return after several days had passed. However, after three days of waiting, he was starting to worry as well.

He did not hold any romantic feelings toward Layla, but she was still a human and one who held the identity of being his wife. Jordan had no choice but to set out looking for her, but he got nothing even after an entire day of searching.

Out of ideas, Jordan returned to the hospital to meet Henry.

"Dad, I'm here this time to ask if Layla has ever dropped by to visit you!"

"Layla?" Henry was stunned as well. "No, she never visited again since the last time you two came over. Has something happened?"

Since Layla had been Henry's daughter for some time, he was still worried when he heard that she was missing. "Did you two get into an argument?"

"Not exactly!" Jordan recounted the events of the day to Henry, who frowned slightly. "So, you're saying that Layla did not leave the hospital with you? And that she never came home after that?"

Jordan nodded. "That's right. I initially thought she was just throwing a temper tantrum, but we're already on day four now, so..."

from the hospital, I'll go check with the young man from the Smith household on your behalf. The security cameras at the hospital should have managed to capture something. Henry met up with Sean and immediately explained the purpose of his meeting. They checked the security cameras but returned with nothing.

Both Henry and Jordan decided to go to the police, but Sean managed to stop them. "Mr. Henry, allow me to take care of this. Let's not take up any more of the police's resources. Have you forgotten what Charles does for a living?"

Upon noticing Henry's hesitation, Sean smiled. "Don't worry, Mr. Henry. I'll make sure she returns home."

"Well..." Henry looked at Sean, and then at Jordan.

Jordan frowned and stared at Sean, who arranged his features into a harmless-looking smile. "Do you have any time now, Mr. Langford? How about a cup of tea?"

that Sean knew more than he was letting on, but he did not want to share that information with Henry Thus, he turned to Henry. "Dad 'll speak to Mr. Smith in private"

After watching Henry walk away, Jordan turned his gaze back toward Sean and met his half-smiling gaze. "Mr. Smith, do you know where Layla is?"
