The Cherished Wife

Chapter 876

Sean smirked as he unbuttoned his white coat. "There's a café downstairs. Mr. Langford, care to join me?"

Jordan, though puzzled, nodded and gestured for Sean to lead the way. "Please."

Once at the café, Sean sat down in a relaxed manner and ordered an Americano with no sugar. Jordan, more composed and formal as always, ordered a Blue Mountain.

The two sat facing each other. Jordan's proper demeanor made Sean, despite being a doctor, seem somewhat less professional by comparison.

Sean fiddled with his hands as he waited for their coffee to arrive. Once served, he made a welcoming gesture. "I wouldn't have guessed, Mr. Langford. You have quite the refined taste."

Jordan raised an eyebrow but merely sipped his coffee with his lips pressed tightly together. "I'm curious, Mr. Smith. What's this meeting really about?"

"What if I told you I've found news about Tania? How would you react?"

Jordan's hand froze, nearly spilling his coffee. His brows furrowed together as he met Sean's gaze. "What exactly are you implying? And what does this have to do with Layla's disappearance?"

A cold, uneasy feeling gripped Jordan's chest, but he tried to shake it off. He refused to let himself believe that Tania's and Layla's situations were connected.

Sean's smile widened. "You're a smart man, Mr. Langford. You should know I don't casually invite people for idle chat."

Jordan's expression darkened. "Then please, Mr. Smith, get to the point."

Sean chuckled softly, rubbing his chin as he spoke, "Do you remember what happened four years ago?"

"Four years ago?" Jordan's grip on his coffee cup tightened. "Are you saying Tania's departure was orchestrated by Layla?" "Mm-hmm." Sean raised his eyebrows playfully. "But I never said that outright."

"Mr. Smith, do you know where Layla is? Or are you telling me she didn't disappear at all-that you're the one hiding her?" Jordan was quick, already guessing most of the truth. "So, why did you ask me to meet you today? Are you not aware that Layla is my wife?"

"Mr. Langford, have you ever really treated Layla as your wife?"

Jordan took a deep breath, his patience thinning. "Mr. Smith, whatever you have to say, just say it. What is it that you want from me?"

Sean, ever the calculating man, was not foolish enough to confess outright to Layla's abduction. There was something more he wanted from Jordan, and Jordan knew it.

"Straight to the point. I like that," Sean said, pulling a USB drive from his pocket and handing it to Jordan.

"This is the hospital's surveillance footage. The one you watched previously? edited it. I have reason to believe that Layla had a hand in Tania's disappearance. Even Charles and Peter haven't been able to find her in the past three years. Who do you think can pull that off

"That makes it even less likely to be Layla," Jordan said. Layla might be cruel, but she did not have the ability to evade Charles and Peter. Whoever was behind this was far more powerful.

Jordan's face turned ashen, and his fists clenched tightly. "Fine."noveldrama

Sean smiled slyly. "No need to rush with your answer. Take your time and think about what you really want."

"There's no need. Where is she now? Take me to her." Jordan exhaled heavily. "As long as... As long as you can bring Tania back soon, I'll do whatever you ask."
